General care tips
Following these tips when caring for your shoes will let you enjoy them for a long time. Even after long use, your shoes will still look as good as new.
Just like our skin, leather needs thorough care and protection. This is why you should treat your shoes by a regular application of leather care. Let it dry and use a cloth or a polishing brush to buff them to a shine. A suede brush restores the original texture of suede leathers.
Shoes need rest too! Leather shoes absorb moisture from your feet. Give your shoes a day off after wearing them, so they can release this moisture again.
Another piece of advice: Keep your shoes in shape with unvarnished cedar or beech shoe trees to prevent creases and help absorb moisture.
Are you looking for eco-friendly shoe care products? Then you might want to give our natura series a try: All natura care products are made from environmentally-friendly ingredients. Combinations of natural active ingredients such as lemon and grapefruit oil promote shoe hygiene. Carnauba wax and beeswax nourish the leather; olive oil keeps it smooth and supple. Avocado oil protects it from dirt and moisture. The skin compatibility of all natura products has been dermatologically tested and proved.
Waterproofing sprays protect shoes from moisture and prevent snow and salt stains in winter. This way, your feet stay dry but are still able to breathe. Please note: Protector 3x3 waterproofing spray should be applied when the shoes are completely dry. Repeat three times for best results.
Whenever you buy new shoes, always waterproof them and let it work for at least 30 minutes before wearing them for the first time in wet weather.
And don’t forget to repeat the waterproofing process on a regular basis! Make sure to always use the spray outdoors.
Putting shoe trees in your shoes after wearing them will help them retain their shape. As a positive side effect, wooden shoe trees (e.g. cedar or beech wood) also absorb moisture. Shoes that are not worn for some time should be cleaned, conditioned and stored with shoe trees, ideally in a fabric bag so that they can breathe.
Have you experienced the convenience of using a shoe horn? It makes your life easier and keeps your shoes from getting stretched out, allowing the counter to retain its shape.
A fitting insole ensures great comfort and creates an ideal climate in the shoe: cool in summer, warm and cosy in winter, shock-absorbing for athletes or soft terry cloth for barefoot fans. Additionally, perfectly shaped insoles made of gel, for example, provide extra stability for easy walking and let you always keep your balance, even in high heels. Comfortable footwear is particularly important for children. This is why our insoles come in all sizes – also for the little ones.
